Broody Girls

Finally, finally, finally it looks like the 2 broody hens are off the nest on their own and out into the yard.  Even when I went to the hen house to gather eggs, they didn't follow me.  That is good news -- they should start laying eggs again very soon.

Chicken Hissy Fits - Repost

I have 2 broody hens (for non-chicken owners broody hens want to hatch eggs) that I take off the nest a couple times a day.  Each time I do, they make this funny trilling noise and pick up straw and throw it around. They remind me of hissy fits on a chicken scale compared to us. They are fine, go drink water, fluff their feathers to cool off, and run to join the rest of the hens. LOL.
